چکیده

Exposure to heavy metals may have toxic effects on several human organs causing morbidity and mortality. Metals trigger or exacerbate autoimmunity in humans. Inbred mouse strains with certain H-2 haplotypes are susceptible xenobiotic-induced autoimmunity; their immune response such as mercury, gold, silver been explored. Serum antinuclear antibodies (ANA), polyclonal B-cell activation, hypergammaglobulinemia tissue complex deposition the main features of metal-induced inbred mice. However, do not represent genetic heterogeneity In this study, outbred Swiss Webster (SW) mice exposed gold mercury salts showed autoimmune responses. Intramuscular injection 22.5 mg/kg.bw aurothiomalate (AuTM) induced IgG ANA SW starting after 5 weeks that persisted until week 15 although a lower intensity. This was accompanied by elevated serum levels total against chromatin histones. led development autoantibodies corresponding H1 H2A histones, dsDNA. Both activation. Eight mg/L mercuric chloride (HgCl2) drinking water, caused antinucleolar (ANoA) kidneys spleen. anti-fibrillarin, anti-PM/Scl-100 antibodies, were observed mercury-exposed Gold systemic genetically heterogeneous suggest them an appropriate model study autoimmunity.

Cytolethal distending toxin is essential for Helicobacter hepaticus colonization in outbred Swiss Webster mice.

Helicobacter hepaticus, which induces chronic hepatitis and typhlocolitis in susceptible mouse strains, produces a cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) consisting of CdtA, CdtB, and CdtC. A cdtB-deficient H. hepaticus isogenic mutant (HhcdtBm7) was generated and characterized for colonization parameters in four intestinal regions (jejunum, ileum, cecum, and colon) of outbred Swiss Webster (SW) mic...

Characterization of cerebral malaria in the outbred Swiss Webster mouse infected by Plasmodium berghei ANKA.

Plasmodium berghei ANKA (PbA) infection in susceptible inbred mouse strains is the most commonly used experimental model to study pathogenesis of cerebral malaria (CM). Indeed, many concepts on mechanisms related to this complication have arisen from works using this model. Although inbred strains present several advantages and are indicated for most studies, the use of outbred models can show ...

Effects of pyridine exposure upon structural lipid metabolism in Swiss Webster mice.

Pyridine is a prototypical inducer of cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2E1, an enzyme associated with cellular oxidative stress and membrane damage. To better understand the effect of this treatment on cellular lipids, the influence of pyridine exposure (100 mg/kg/day i.p. for 5 days) on fatty acids, fatty esters, and fatty alcohol ethers in brain, heart, liver, and adipose tissue from male Swiss Webster ...

Pregnancy Outcome in Swiss-Webster Mice Infected With Chlamydia trachomatis

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to observe pregnancy outcomes in mice infected transvaginally with Chlamydia trachomatis. METHODS Pregnant mice were inoculated transvaginally with either C. trachomatis (CT) or sterile calf serum (CON) on pregnancy day 4. Pregnancy outcomes as well as genital tract histology and culture were compared. Statistical analysis was performed using Fisher's...
